HC Boulon vs Red Lions HC
Pontaise
Tuesday, December 15, 2016 at 20:00
On Tuesday night the Red Lions played in a real nail biter against HC Boulon. With Montchoisi and HCPC tied in first with 14 points, and the Red Lions in 3rd place with 10 points, securing a win at the Pontaise against HC Boulon was critical in order to stay in 3rd place and avoid letting the gap widen.
Some Red Lions dream of scoring four goals in their whole season. Justin and his magic wand were able to do this in just one period. With Jordan and Marti grabbing assists on Justin’s second and third goals respectively, and Boulon scoring just one goal, the Red Lions and their 4-1 lead seemed to be off to a good start.
The second period brought two more goals for each team. For the Red Lions this included a beauty from Philippe Champo assisted by Bapst and Dubi and a zinger from Pierrick with again an assist by Dubi. At the end of the second, at 6-3, the Red Lions were still leading by three although it could be felt that Boulon were gaining momentum and that a tough third period awaited if the Red Lions were to secure a W.
HC Boulon came out hard in the third with three unanswered goals to bring the game to a tie at 6-6. With just five minutes left in the third period it became obvious that whichever team scored the next goal was likely to walk away with the big win. Justin and his magic wand could not have returned at a better time. With an osti de tarbamak de beauty de shoot lah, the Red Lions had the lead with Dubi picking up his third assist of the night. Although this would be the eventually game winner, tension remained high during the final minutes with action from both sides.
All hockey players know that breakaways can represent very high-pressure situations. Top marks go to Isma who, while all alone on a breakaway at a very crucial moment, pulled a move that I hadn’t seen since Novice hockey – the famous trip over the blue line. However, sometimes in life we are blessed with a second chance and this was the case for Isma who on on his second breakway in just a few minutes was able to score. The tension was finally cut and the Red Lions had the comfortable two-goal lead that they needed. The 8-6 win for the Red Lions over Boulon proved to be one of the most exciting games of the season to date and a performance that the Red Lions can be proud of.
